About Spencer Hesseltine – A Brief Insight Into

Okay so I have had a few blogs in my lifetime but this one I have just created to make my true footprint and share insight into the SEO industry as well - it is just a huge passion of mine. This blog is connected with many of my social channels so feel free to connect with me on there, ask questions, get feedback on ideas or simply say hi.
I will not just be writing about SEO, but social media, life, sports, food and basically anything I can come up with. Before I begin ‘on the daily, on the fly’ I want to tell you a bit about myself. For quick one liners, check out about.me/spencer.hesseltine. If you become an avid reader of my blog, you will probably notice mention references to a lot of movie quotes and I seem to always use the term ‘shit’ somewhere in my posts, I just don’t know how the shit happens.

I am originally from Des Moines, IA. I moved to Phoenix, AZ when I was just 20 years of age with a good friend named Thomas Walker. Eventually he moved back to Iowa howver the first job we got in Arizona was for a local web marketing firm which I started in customer service, knowing nothing of the industry and within 5 years, I resigned with many, many marketing techniques mastered, under my belt. I have a beautiful wife, a five year old son named Lucas, a seven year old daughter named Jasmyne and expecting a third this coming May – so you may find some prego posts on this blog as well.
It seems to have a strong resonance with a movie that is popular at my house (well used to be) so I will quote it. Leave a comment if you know which movie it is, maybe in a future post I will push the answer out somewhere.
“I went into jail with a bachelors in marijuana, I came out with a doctorate in cocaine.”
Not the best quote by any means, especially to start off a new blog but it definitely fills the space I'm trying to fill. I went into the phoenix link building / web marketing firm basically knowing nothing but Microsoft office, came out with an amazing understanding of how businesses need to work, things they need to do, and objectives that need to be created to be met with high search engine rankings. Rankings are not everything, yes, front page of google is great, it will bring your website traffic, Google accounts for (on average) 80% of all website traffic.
Not getting too deep into that at this point, but I recently attended a conference in Boston called SearchLove hosted by Distitlled.com. It was a great conference. The venue was great, the people were friendly and the speakers were even better. I ended up typing up about 11 pages of notes throughout the 2 day conference.
I’m on the plane flying back from Boston now, missing my family dearly. I cannot wait to get back into the valley of the sun where there are warmer temperatures and I know how to get around town. Boston was a huge culture shock for me, haven’t been to the northeast coast before and man, I couldn’t imagine trying to learn all the streets out there. Phoenix is a grid. North – South, East – West. Easy shit.
I think that is about it for today, I’ll be back tomorrow – on the daily, on the fly..

  1. What a tear jerking life story you have Spencer! You have inspired me to become a better person. I too grew up as a small corn chucker from Des Moines, IA. Not much to do there but harvest crops. I have two dogs named "Kibbles" and "Bits". Lol get it? Anyway we should try and meetup sometime if your not too busy. Hows Friday Dec 7? We could get some coffee or something. Talk to you then.

    1. Sounds Great!. =) Can't wait to meet up in person. You seem like a really good fellow. Maybe you can teach me about S.E.O stuff too. Is it ok if I bring Kibbles? She fights with Bits when they get alone.
